Ingredients

Codfish Fillets – Codfish is such a delectable and easy fish that everyone should add it to their recipe arsenal. This common dense yet flakey, white fish loves cold salt water and it has lots of satisfying oceanic flavor.

Cod is more than just a wonderful texture and fishy flavor. It has a ton of tasty nutrients! Cod is a great source of vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, and omega-3 fatty acids. Cod is also considered one of the best fish for young eaters.

Almond Flour and Oat Fiber – Almond flour paired with oat fiber is a great gluten-free way to add some crispy crunch to the outside of this flakey fish.

Garlic Powder – Garlic has an intensely delicious flavor and aroma.

Paprika Powder – This peppery powder brings a zesty bite as well as a nice reddish color to the exterior of the fish.

Fish Spices – This seasoning blend has all the best flavors for cooking seafood. Look for it in the spice aisle or mix up your own rendition with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, black pepper, paprika, thyme, and allspice.

Sea Salt and Black Pepper – Salt and pepper bring out the best in everything. It’s been proven that when you add a little pepper to anything you salt the flavor of salt comes through more clearly and deliciously. So these two spices really need each other!

Lemon Juice – When you combine lemon juice with butter it makes a smooth and succulent sauce. This creamy concoction is absolutely amazing on top of codfish. Use a fresh lemon and to get even more juice out of the fruit, zest it first.

Unsalted Butter – Unsalted butter is best for this briny fish. There is so much salt in other areas of the recipe that no extra sodium is needed; however, if all you have is salted butter, you can shorten the amount of salt added to another area.

Onion – Savory, crunchy, and sweet onion is a must to make this sauce complex.

Garlic – Not only does fresh garlic make this sauce taste great, but it also adds a ton of manganese to the recipe and this essential nutrient helps the body’s enzymes do their jobs so a little garlic goes a long way for your health!

Fresh Dill – Fresh dill has such a fresh and appetizing aroma that just a whiff will make you want more. Dill is a great herb to try growing in your culinary garden. Plant the seeds in the spring and reap the benefits of dishes like this, pickles, and so much more!

Expert Notes

  • Enjoy this lush and flakey fish while it is warm. Pair it with a lovely low-carb grain and/or your favorite veggie side.
  • Store any extra of this delicious cod with the sauce in an airtight container. It can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat the leftovers quickly in the microwave or a little more slowly in a pan on the stovetop.
  • Be careful not to flip the fish too early. It is best not to touch it at all until it’s time to turn it, and you can tell the time is right when the edges are beautifully golden brown and crisp looking.
